I am an instrumental astrophysicist, and an assistant professor of astronomy at the University of Washington, Seattle.
I’m happiest with a wrench in my hand in the field, and second happiest with a wrench in my hand in lab. I’m interested in testing the boundaries of what we can do with sub-orbital and orbital instrumentation in the ultraviolet, and trying to understand how gas interacts with galaxies to modulate and curtail star formation, especially in the relatively nearby universe (z < 1).
I deeply believe that the heart of astrophysics is our community. Who we are and how we’re in the room matters. It is important to me that part of my work be reshaping the systems that cause harm - from the small scale to the large - and to engage our community at all career stages in building a new way to be astrophysicists, one that comes from a place of humanity and equity.

What are you doing here?
What a great question. Luckily one that is totally outside of my remit, so I won’t even try to answer it. This is just a place to keep track for me, and maybe serve as a little bit of discovery space for you.
